Holly and Trevor Engagements

This is one of my very best friends..and her fiance! We lived across the street from each other for like 10 years while growing up in highland. Manor Drive was wild, and we were wild kids! I absolutely love her and have always thought she was one of the most gorgeous people on earth! I couldn't count the many times I was jealous of her good looks. All the boys were always crazy about Holly. Trevor is one lucky kid to be calling her his wife in just a few short weeks.

There aren't that many photos,  my internet is being slow. :(

I can't think of a good title for all the randomness.

Look at this little "ham," as her mom called her. And she is quite the ham. Those eyebrows....

I had to run out to Kanab over spring break for work. The Nielsons had just moved out there a few weeks earlier and I called upon them for a visit.  Then I begged them to let me take pictures of their new little hunk Max.

Sa cute! Maybe someday, when I don't live in half a house, I can have a cute little photography studio for all the cute babies in the world. People can bring their beautiful babies over and we will dress them up and take pictures of them all day long. Photography really does make me so happy.

I most definitely have a lot to learn about it still, and most the pictures don't turn out  like the way they look in my head. But I do love it.

Seriously, if you ever want some free photos, let me know and I will try to make it happen.

This one kills me. I think I ask Dirk if he wants to make a baby every time I see this.

He tells me that ours probably won't be as cute. Statistically speaking, there has to be an ugly baby out of so many cute babies. Well, all of our friends have adorable babies, which means, we are going to be stuck with the ugly ones. ;)

We are just kidding future children. We are positive you will be adorable too.

A little update from the rest of March. These two got married!

(Dirk's Sister Melba and her new DH Jordan)

It was a fun wedding and I am glad we got to celebrate it with them.

Something else exciting that also happened in March....

Check out my new bike. Isn't it sweet?!? Well actually, I got two new bikes. One for mountain biking and one for the streets. Dirk also got a new bike. We may actually be able to keep up with Makita now. Poor Walter is going to be left behind, though. Poor fat Walter. He tries so hard.

One last thing. We found HOT ROD in the $5 bin yesterday at Walmart; and, for the first time in like 4 attempts to watch it, I made it through. I don't know how I didn't realize that movie was too legit to quit before.

Shooter Sandwich

If you know Dirk and I, then you probably know that we love the month of March! Dirk's birthday is on the first so we always get to start it off with a bang. This year Dirk called in sick to work and I spent the day spoiling him. Later, for birthday dinner, Dirk requested a shooter sandwich and yes it is as manly and meaty as it sounds . This is how it goes:

SHOOTER SANDWICH

Get a loaf of heavy sourdough bread

Dice an onion and a carton of mushrooms

Find some thinly sliced rib-eye steaks (we cut one in half)

Scrape out the innards of the loaf, but leave quite a bit of the bottom to soak up juices

Saute the onions and mushrooms in about a pound of butter

Sear the beef in all the juices from the o and m

Layer one slice of steak

then two slices of swiss cheese

then a layer of cooked bacon

Pile in half of the mushrooms and onions

sass it up with some bbq sauce

layer more steak, cheese, bacon, mushrooms and onions, and top off with some more sauce

replace the bread bowl lid

wrap in wax paper and tin foil then smash it for 5 hours with as many heavy books as you can (at least 70+ lbs)

Dirk loved it and I have to admit it was pretty darn good.

Saltines, Cheese, and Mallows

I think almost every family has some sort of weird dish that really only sounds appetizing to the ones who grew up on it.
Recently, I have heard of creamed corn on toast, mashed potatoes on pasta, and gravy on french fries (okay maybe that is just all of Canada.)
My family has one, that consists of saltine crackers, cheese, and marshmallows.

Cover a cookie sheet with foil and place saltines on top.

Spread a slice of cheese over saltines.

Place a marshmallow on top! The large ones are my favorite, but I only had small and they taste good too.

Bake in a toaster oven until cheese is melted and mallows are toasted. Since I don't have a toaster oven I broiled them in my electric oven.

In elementary, I made these almost every day as a snack.

Dirk and I have been married for over two years and this was the first time I have made them for him. He said they were "interesting," and then he ate a half of them.

Give it a try... You know you are curious.
